What is Microblading / Semi-permanent Makeup ?

When you have semi-permanent makeup performed at Dalya Cosmo Clinic, you’re in the hands of qualified therapists who have undertaken specific theoretical and practical training in semi-permanent makeup who are regularly reassessed, to make sure they continue to meet our company’s high standards. You can relax knowing that they are professionals working to give you a beautiful result.

Permanent make-up, or more correctly, semi-permanent make-up, is also called cosmetic tattooing when used for creating or perfecting eyebrows, eyeliners or lips and beauty spots. Treatments available at Dalya Cosmo Clinic, include  semi- permanent eyeliner, lipstick effect colour and eyebrow tattoo (microblading, powder fill, ombre, hair stroke/feathering as well as combination effects), as well as eyeliner. The treatment is semi-permanent, in that you in most cases you can expect it to last for a number of years, however the colour will fade over time (at varying rates, depending on factors such as skincare, sun exposure, health and skin type) and eventually require refreshing, to maintain the crispness.

How it works?

At your consultation we will discuss what you would like the achieve before pre drawing the desired shape in pencil for you to approve. Once you are completely satisfied with the shape achieved we will proceed with making it permanent using a digital PMU machine or manually by hand.

Cosmetic tattoo involves depositing pigment into the skin, using a small pen-style machine which rapidly inserts small quantities of custom-blended pigment in the required area with the expertise of a competent and skilled professional. Microblading differs slightly, in that a manual or hand tool is used, to create super fine strokes in the skin in a hair like pattern.

The technique can be described as tapping or scratching colour into the skin using tiny micro-needles, less than the size of a hair, that are grouped together. Your skin consists of 5 layers and, to achieve the desired look, the micro-needles only need to penetrate around 0.5 – 0.8 of a millimetre. With all of our semi-permanent colour treatments, our therapists apply an anaesthetic cream to the area before starting – so that you are as comfortable as you can be, throughout the treatment.

Benefits

  • It will help you to look younger, replacing colour loss so plentiful in your youth.
  • It will create the illusion of beautiful lashes. It can make your lashes look thicker, longer and fuller and make your eyes look larger or smaller.
  • It will create more defined eyebrows and give you the eyebrow shape you desire by filling in thinning eyebrows that have been over-plucked or become thinner with age.
  • It can make you look more beautiful and help to balance your facial features.
  • It will give you more time in the mornings.
  • It will help you to look your best, even when you’re swimming or at the gym, spa or sauna. In fact, wherever you are!
  • Colours can be as natural or cosmetic as you like, depending on the shape and colour you choose.

Recovery time

It is important to try not to get the area wet for 48 hours after. The area will scab and feel itchy but you mustn’t pick at it as you will remove the colour if you do. It usually takes between 10-14 days for the area to completely heal after which the colour will have faded and likely be lost in some parts. This is why we ask you to come for a top up after 4 weeks when we can perfect the shape and colour

Treatment intervals

Semi-permanent makeup can last for many years, as many skin types hold colour very well. Others can fade in just a few years, leaving only a light residue of the original colour that was once there. This longevity is sometimes due to the intensity of the colour that is chosen.  Lighter colours will fade faster than darker colours. On average, once completed, permanent makeup will last for between 2 to 5 years. This is why we generally refer to it as semi permanent make up.

Does  Hurt?

Before implanting the colour, your therapist will apply an anaesthetic cream to the area. During treatment, if you begin to feel uncomfortable, you can have your therapist apply more anaesthetic. Other than that, it may feel slightly strange, but not uncomfortable, when your therapist pulls your skin tight to precisely implant the colour.

Post treatment

  • You may have some redness or bruising.
  • After treatment, your colour will be darker the first few days, but it will gradually lighten.
  • You may need a touch-up session to correct the colour if it is too light. Your therapist will advise you on when to have this done, as it varies from one person to another.

Do’s

  • Apply the Bepanthen cream you have been given 3 times a day for 3 days. Apply the cream using a clean tissue or cotton bud for each application.
  • Apply a cold compress if you’d like – but first apply Bepanthen cream to the area, then Glad Wrap, then the cold compress on top.
  • Feel free to talk with our therapists at any time if you have questions or concerns

Dont’s

  • Drive or operate heavy machinery immediately after your treatment.
  • Rub, pick or scratch at the treatment area.
  • Use harsh cleansers, toners, soaps or shampoos.
